Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Amancio Bilintx got the match started through his kick off. Cristobal Estavan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felix Montenegro in the 5th minute of play. Cristobal Estavan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 9th minute, when Omar Cordara sent off a good shot on target. Cristobal Estavan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Newell´s booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juan Sebastián Puig didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ecuador's defense didn't have a chance, in the 15th minute, when Tadeo Jakobe scored to the left of an out of position Julio Vera, making the score, 1-0. Newell´s's Cristobal Estavan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luis Andino in the 18th minute of play. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 24th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amancio Bilintx in the 27th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 28th minute, Amancio Bilintx managed to get in a good position for a shot. Newell´s's supporters rose to their feet, but Amancio Bilintx was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 31 minutes, Tadeo Jakobe made it 2-0 with a short kick to the right side. Ecuador's Julio Vera tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. 36 minutes into the match, Newell´s's goal looked a bit too open when Luis Andino came free, but Cristobal Estavan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 42nd match minute, Newell´s was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Isidoro Ramires to maneuver through the defense. 45 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Cristobal Estavan. Newell´s's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Daniel Zorita was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 58th minute, Tadeo Jakobe got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 65th minute Omar Cordara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cristobal Estavan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Juan Sebastián Puig, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 78th minute, Amancio Bilintx made a precise shot to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. Julio Vera came out of the goal in the 84th minute to try and stop a shot by Newell´s's Tadeo Jakobe. But to his dismay, Tadeo Jakobe quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1. 86 minutes into the match, Amancio Bilintx had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Amancio Bilintx was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-1. After a rather tough play, Newell´s's Tomás Lecanda got a free kick in the 92nd minute. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amancio Bilintx in the 94th minute of play. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Newell´s were victorious despite being under pressure from Ecuador for much of the match.
