If Milagros Fraga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 40 minutes into the game, Julian Murillo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Carlton Convine was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 43 minutes into the match, Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rafael van der Vaart. Carlton Convine showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luz Tejedor in the 47th minute of the match.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Rafael Gallo got free with Carlton Convine in the 94th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Peru's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
