Rogelio Aurken showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 9th minute of the match. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Santos City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wander de Carvalho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rogelio Aurken took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Daniel Zorita might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rogelio Aurken. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Daniel Zorita ran back to his position shaking his head. Cristian Sancho took the ball and in the 27 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rogelio Aurken. Rogelio Aurken dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 34th minute after Santos City's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. Santos City's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal.
