Roch Puch dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. AS Monaco FC's Roch Puch played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Gaona in the 21st minute of play. Roch Puch made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 23rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Amado Janpier in the 24th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 28 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Jairo Guifre came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Amado Janpier in the 29th minute of play. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Amado Janpier, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. Alberto Tafalla in the 35thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

In the 50th minute Mai Jian Sen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jairo Guifre got free with Dante Lacasa in the 54th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 55 minutes into the match, Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jairo Guifre. Mexico's supporters rose to their feet, but Luca Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Roch Puch breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dante Lacasa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jairo Guifre in the 64th minute.
