In the 4thth minute of the game Cido Fernandez who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 6 minutes into the game, EK's Cido Fernandez nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jonathan Ferrant made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Tomas Illescas might have been able to make a better finish in the 12th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Denimir Bebin. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tomas Illescas ran back to his position shaking his head. Rigoberto Mina was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 17 minutes into the match. The supporters of EK booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rigoberto Mina didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from İlbey Denizalp in the 19th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, Vladislav Dzhalev kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. In the 34th minute, Vladislav Dzhalev ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jonathan Ferrant was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. Denimir Bebin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joshua Secada, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Patricio Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Sevdalin Ovcharov came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the EK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sevdalin Ovcharov couldn't finish the play.

With a little luck, Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant got control of the ball when Cido Fernandez tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to EK getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Hristiyan Kulekov hit a great ball. After recieving a nice pass, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas tried to score from far away in the 57th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. 60 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Vladislav Dzhalev came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 62nd minute of the match, managed to save Venezuela from getting a goal against them. İlbey Denizalp kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Patricio Costa in the 67th minute of play forced EK's goalkeeper Denimir Bebin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tzvetomir Kertin made in the 80th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Yancho Traychev. Cido Fernandez might have been able to make a better finish in the 85th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jonathan Ferrant. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cido Fernandez ran back to his position shaking his head. 86 minutes into the game, Vladislav Dzhalev was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. EK's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Venezuela the free kick. In the 88th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jose Correa to maneuver through the defense. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched EK eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
