The supporters of Ecuador booed when FC Cosula-BTF- was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aurelian Giurcă didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 9th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ovidiu Marin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 10th match minute, FC Cosula-BTF- was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Irinel Plop to maneuver through the defense. Luis Andino's late challenge caught a FC Cosula-BTF-'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luis Andino didn't get a good kick on the ball. 19 minutes into the match, FC Cosula-BTF-'s goal looked a bit too open when Agustín Saelices came free, but Ovidiu Marin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera was annoyed at himself for letting in the shot. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 30th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Daniel Zorita missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 35 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Ovidiu Marin right hand side. Ovidiu Marin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 44th minute of play. 47 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Dacian Jurăscu came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Filip Hosu to make the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dacian Jurăscu in the 56th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Ovidiu Marin was a little too slow when Cristian Sancho got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 64th minute. The score was now 3-1. A collision led to FC Cosula-BTF- getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Ciprian Gaiță hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, FC Cosula-BTF-'s Vintilă Bădescu got a free kick in the 71st minute. Through an outstanding action, after 74 minutes, Ovidiu Marin successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Aurelian Giurcă charged in rather forcefully in the 76th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Aurelian Giurcă the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. FC Cosula-BTF-'s Octav Buta was substituted for Aurel Lăceanu. Aurelian Giurcă took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 90th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Julio Vera. Ecuador's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Filip Hosu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ecuador's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because FC Cosula-BTF- had won, even though Ecuador had held more of the ball.
