In the 36th minute, STAL ST WOLA's Michel Batistuta dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. Roman Matai showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 39th minute of the match. In the 45th minute Mikolaj Lech shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Michel Batistuta in the 47th minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 53rd minute of the match, but Roman Matai made a huge save. After 55 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Daniel Zorita. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zygmunt Bielejewski in the 57th minute of play. Thanks to some nice moves Daniel Zorita could shoot a difficult shot in the 59th minute, which Roman Matai however easily saved by the left post. 64 minutes into the match, STAL ST WOLA's goalkeeper Roman Matai had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. The supporters of STAL ST WOLA booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luis Andino didn't get a good kick on the ball. STAL ST WOLA's Roman Matai proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 80th minute of the match, managed to save STAL ST WOLA from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Roman Matai in the 94th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
