Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tomas Berganza in the 9th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Yusuf Stegen prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Yusuf Stegen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Berganza, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. 10 minutes into the game, Tomas Berganza cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Yusuf Stegen was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Tomas Berganza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Yusuf Stegen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Berganza in the 17th minute of play. In the 24th minute Tomas Berganza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Yusuf Stegen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marcos Cotilla made an important save on a dangerous shot by Semail Özbir in the 26th minute. The San Diego FC fans' excitement grew in the 27th match minute when San Diego FC's Teddy Bourasseau looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. A collision led to San Diego FC getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Jaroslaw Mierzejewski hit a great ball. After 34 played minutes Panama got a freekick which was hit by Aaron Barrios. 39 minutes into the game, Talip Ecemiş was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. San Diego FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Panama the free kick. Isidoro Sarmiento struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Yusuf Stegen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Panama. Teddy Bourasseau received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Marcos Cotilla came out and tried to block the shot, but Teddy Bourasseau slotted it home off the left post making it 2-1 in the 43rd minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
The wind increased when Dainius Bagdonas made the kick off in the second half. Yusuf Stegen was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. A collision led to San Diego FC getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. The San Diego FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-2. In the 92nd minute, San Diego FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Tomas Berganza fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. An unexpected shot in the 96th minute by Isidoro Sarmiento got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The San Diego FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Panama had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
