Jonathan Venegas charged in rather forcefully in the 15th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jonathan Venegas the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Jonathan Venegas hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. Tomas Illescas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but 周寒政 read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 26th minute of play. After 33 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Jose Correa. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. 周寒政 tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tomas Illescas was the one to do the kick off. Venezuela's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Tomas Illescas in the 52nd minute. A nice corner shot did that Camilo Gaos got away a dangerous shot. Despite this 周寒政 quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Tomas Illescas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without 周寒政 having to interfere.
