Spectators: 44 (Terracing: 34, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Daniel Zorita started the match with the kick off. 6 minutes into the match, BASEL FC's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Nicanor Loiola reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 6th minute, Daniel Zorita left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Baykal Acabey in the 10th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 30th minute Felix Montenegro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nicanor Loiola saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 34th minute of play forced BASEL FC's goalkeeper Nicanor Loiola to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Juan Sebastián Puig got a free kick in the 36th minute. Baykal Acabeys short, quick shot in the 37thth minute got Julio Vera to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After a rather tough play, BASEL FC's Muchsin Maulana got a free kick in the 41st minute. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mihail Dumitras, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cristian Sancho took the ball and in the 78 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nicanor Loiola. Nicanor Loiola dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-4. 90 minutes into the game, Luis Andino was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ecuador's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave BASEL FC the free kick. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Luis Andino hit a great ball. If Mihail Dumitras had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than BASEL FC throughout the match.
