Julio Vera was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Guido Burgstaller in the 21st minute of play. In the 21st minute Guido Burgstaller shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 22 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Emerson Ferraz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 30th minute. Emerson Ferraz came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jens Albers hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. After 47 minutes of play, Ecuador's Agustín Saelices made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Emerson Ferraz was left in no man's land by his defense there! After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Guido Burgstaller was the one to do the kick off. 54 minutes into the game, Leo Freiherr recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Julio Vera. Leo Freiherr showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-2. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Agustín Saelices got a free kick in the 57th minute. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Timo Schinnenburg in the 61st minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Möhnsen FC's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Emerson Ferraz came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Béla Strothmann, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With an all-out effort, Möhnsen FC's Julio Vera threw himself towards the right post 75 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Guido Burgstaller, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leo Freiherr, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. After 88 played minutes Möhnsen FC got a freekick which was hit by Jens Albers. In the 94th minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 97th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Möhnsen FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Möhnsen FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
