Mexico were awarded a corner in the 36th minute after Möhnsen FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Joel Gaona took the corner. Mexico's Felix Luque was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Emerson Ferraz in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 38th minute the ball was on its way in behind Möhnsen FC's goalkeeper Emerson Ferraz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 38 minutes into the game, Lautaro Mancebo recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Emerson Ferraz. Lautaro Mancebo showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-2. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Guido Burgstaller in the 41st minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lautaro Mancebo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute of the match, Leo Freiherr tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Dante Lacasa saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Emerson Ferraz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 53rd minute of the match. Luca Zorita made a great header on Mexico's corner, it was just that Möhnsen FC's Emerson Ferraz managed to reach the ball for a save. Möhnsen FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luca Rouco was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. After some careless play in the Mexico defense, Guido Burgstaller kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dante Lacasa. The Mexico fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dante Lacasa should have stopped the shot. After 71 minutes of play, Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo made it 4-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Emerson Ferraz was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Béla Strothmann in the 74th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Alberto Tafalla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 85 minutes into the match, Möhnsen FC's goal looked a bit too open when Lautaro Mancebo came free, but Emerson Ferraz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 85 minutes into the game, Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Emerson Ferraz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-3. Mexico's defense didn't have a chance, in the 90th minute, when Guido Burgstaller scored to the left of an out of position Dante Lacasa, making the score, 5-4. In the 93rd minute, Mathias Bernwurz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Möhnsen FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
