An unexpectedly hard shot by Orvar Kihlman in the 17th minute of play forced USA's goalkeeper Marco Day to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 18th minute, USA's Cassius Byrne ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jairo Asteguieta. Jairo Asteguieta yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. The audience was convinced that Birger Mårtensson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Marco Day was relentless in the 23rd minute of the game. USA were awarded a corner in the 92th minute after BV Borussia Hammarby's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Jenson Smith took the corner. Jenson Smith was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. 94 minutes into the match, BV Borussia Hammarby's goal looked a bit too open when Khalid Parry came free, but Jairo Asteguieta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Chants of BV Borussia Hammarby echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as USA had held the ball for most of the match.
