An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 13th minute of play forced Mesere's goalkeeper Cai Fei Cheng to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 14th minute after Mesere's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. Luís Gustavo Pimentas short, quick shot in the 22ndth minute got Julio Vera to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 28 minutes into the match, Mesere's Luís Gustavo Pimenta sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 29th minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes had been played when some careless play by Mesere's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. In the 55thth minute of the game Luís Gustavo Pimenta who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Luís Gustavo Pimenta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Mesere's Cai Fei Cheng proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 59th minute of the match, managed to save Mesere from getting a goal against them. In the 89th minute, Mesere's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Luis Andino fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 91st minute of play forced Mesere's goalkeeper Cai Fei Cheng to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Cai Fei Cheng in the 92nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
