Jarl Tholsson's late challenge caught a Venezuela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jarl Tholsson helped the player get up and apologised. Jarl Tholsson hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. When the match clock showed 20 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Donato Gustau sped through Venezuela's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The audience was convinced that Donato Gustau's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jonathan Ferrant was relentless in the 23rd minute of the game. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Donato Gustau in the 30th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Donato Gustau in the 33rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonathan Ferrant saved Venezuela from getting behind. In the 40th minute Donato Gustau shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Linea 174 Ramal Castillo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eustacio Vargas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Donato Gustau to make the kick off. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Linea 174 Ramal Castillo's Zeledon Quintin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 75th minute of play. After 76 minutes Linea 174 Ramal Castillo's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Tomas Illescas who took care of the corner kick. In the 80th minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zeledon Quintin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Patricio Costa hit a great ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Donato Gustau kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Jonathan Ferrant. That made the score 0-4 in the 83 minute of play. A collision led to Linea 174 Ramal Castillo getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Isaias Lugo hit a great ball. 91 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Jarl Tholsson came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Generoso Hotz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Generoso Hotz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Linea 174 Ramal Castillo played a much better game than Venezuela and deserved their victory. The Venezuela players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
