The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Michael Bållström helped the player get up and apologised. Venezuela's Roberto Ocampo was substituted for Patricio Costa. In the 11th match minute, AC Milan was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Michael Bållström to maneuver through the defense. Jonathan Ferrant didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bo Carlsson went, in the 21st minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. In the 24th minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sixten Apelqvist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 25th minute of the match Venezuela got a corner. AC Milan's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Tomas Illescas ran over to the corner to take the kick. Salvador Gisbert made a great header on Venezuela's corner, it was just that AC Milan's Sixten Apelqvist managed to reach the ball for a save. When Per Åberg fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored AC Milan's protests and gave Per Åberg a yellow card for diving instead. Venezuela's Tomas Illescas got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Per Åberg in the 34thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Jonathan Ferrant, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 36th minute, Camilo Gaos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 38 minutes into the game, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Sixten Apelqvist made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. Patrik Apelqvist sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 43 minutes into the match, AC Milan's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Sixten Apelqvist reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 43 played minutes AC Milan got a freekick which was hit by Helge Snäll. In the 45th minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sixten Apelqvist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tomas Illescas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Bo Carlsson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Bo Carlsson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sixten Apelqvist showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roberto Ocampo in the 53rd minute of the match. 3-2 became the score in the 55th minute when Patrik Apelqvist elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. AC Milan's Sixten Apelqvist proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save AC Milan from getting a goal against them. When AC Milan's Per Åberg in the 65th minute got a chance for a shot 65th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Venezuela's goalie prevented a goal. Sören Klemensson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sören Klemensson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 76 minutes of play, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas made it 3-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Sixten Apelqvist was left in no man's land by his defense there! Vilhelm Hellsing hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. Sixten Apelqvist showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roberto Ocampo, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
