The supporters of Ecuador booed when Biervliet was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Florian Deuring didn't get a good kick on the ball. Biervliet's Rob Kort played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 37th minute of play. Daniel Zorita scored 0-2 in the 40th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rob Kort, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with Rob Kort in the 82nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The corner ended in Daniel Zorita almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Biervliet's Rob Kort did a great save. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rob Kort having to interfere. 95 minutes into the match, Biervliet's goalkeeper Rob Kort had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
