Apolo Orlandus was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The Patricio Rey fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Apolo Orlandus should have stopped the shot.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Apolo Orlandus in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Patricio Rey's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Orlando Ortzi in the 55th minute. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Saverio Vela, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Apolo Orlandus showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 69th minute of the match. After 69 played minutes Patricio Rey got a freekick which was hit by Orlando Ortzi. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Patricio Rey was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Orlando Ortzi didn't get a good kick on the ball. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. Apolo Orlandus made a fantastic save in the 97th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
