The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Iuri de Andrade made a kick off. In the 56th minute, Bolivia's Alfredo Ferrant ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Kiko Rosado. Kiko Rosado yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-1. Eduardo Fontirroig recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Goiás Esporte Clube getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Ernesto Trigo hit a great ball. In the 64th minute the ball was on its way in behind Goiás Esporte Clube's goalkeeper Kiko Rosado, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Alfredo Ferrant fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kiko Rosado having to interfere.
