The crowd rose to their feet as FK Crvena Zvezda's Malcolm Göransson slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Camilo Freixa. That made the score 1-0 after 3 minutes of play. If Malcolm Göransson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Leif Browall took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mario Fernandino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. FK Crvena Zvezda's Erland Hagström got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Julio Chicote charged in rather forcefully in the 40th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Julio Chicote the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Bolivia getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Julio Chicote hit a great ball. Camilo Freixa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stig-Arne Duset in the 42nd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in FK Crvena Zvezda's zone, Eduardo Fontirroig stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Leif Browall came out of the goal and Eduardo Fontirroig tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 46 minutes into the match, FK Crvena Zvezda's goal looked a bit too open when Julio Chicote came free, but Leif Browall reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mario Fernandino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Mario Fernandino to strike the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Bolivia getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Eduardo Fontirroig hit a great ball. In the 56th minute, Alejandro Villa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Bolivia booed when FK Crvena Zvezda was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcus Britz didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 62 played minutes FK Crvena Zvezda got a freekick which was hit by Andreas Dahlberg. After having played for 62 minutes, Mario Fernandino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bolivia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mario Fernandino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 66th minute, Marcus Britz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 68th match minute, Bolivia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ismael Tejedor to maneuver through the defense. 69 minutes into the game, FK Crvena Zvezda's Malcolm Göransson nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Camilo Freixa made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. After 71 played minutes FK Crvena Zvezda got a freekick which was hit by Uno Bergqvist. If Eduardo Fontirroig had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mario Fernandino struck a weak shot in the 78th minute. Leif Browall didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bolivia. Eduardo Fontirroig fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leif Browall having to interfere. Mario Fernandino scored 2-1 in the 83rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Leif Browall, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Mario Fernandino recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 88th minute Eduardo Fontirroig shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leif Browall saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Eduardo Fontirroig fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leif Browall having to interfere. Bolivia's Eduardo Fontirroig got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 92nd match minute, Bolivia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alfonso de la Cruz to maneuver through the defense. 94 minutes into the match, Bolivia's goal looked a bit too open when Malcolm Göransson came free, but Camilo Freixa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alfredo Ferrant hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match. The FK Crvena Zvezda support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
