Joel Gaona took the corner. 19 minutes into the match, Boca Juniors's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Gaona came free, but Jacinto Cuadrado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 21st minute the ball was on its way in behind Boca Juniors's goalkeeper Jacinto Cuadrado, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Boca Juniors's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lautaro Mancebo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Alberto Tafalla in the 38th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jacinto Cuadrado prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Agnaldo de Alcântara hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. Joel Gaona took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 44th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Jacinto Cuadrado. Boca Juniors's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Felix Luque charged in rather forcefully in the 45th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Felix Luque the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. If Rolando Amorebieta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lautaro Mancebo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 48th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Hitzeder Manrique was the one to do the kick off.
