VIP's defense didn't have a chance, in the 4th minute, when Uwe-Jens Röttger scored to the left of an out of position Dumitru Berca, making the score, 1-0. In the 15th minute of the match 1.FC Aufbau-Einsturz got a corner. VIP's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Andras Gafus ran over to the corner to take the kick. Dumitru Berca took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Matti Erkiner, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Heinz-Gerd Bonin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dobri Karapetrov in the 20th minute of play. 32 minutes into the match, VIP's goal looked a bit too open when Uwe-Jens Röttger came free, but Dumitru Berca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 36th minute Dobri Karapetrov shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Heinz-Gerd Bonin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Matti Erkiner had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sebastian Ţugui to make the kick off.
