A well done corner resulted in Ionel Bălăiță drilling the ball in to score 1-0 behind Ecuador's goalkeeper. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sabadim Harammes PRD's Mauro Cunha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 20th minute of play. In the 23rd minute Ionel Bălăiță shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Felix Montenegro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Mauro Cunha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mauro Cunha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 32nd minute of play. Mauro Cunha came out of the goal in the 33rd minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Cristian Sancho. But to his dismay, Cristian Sancho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Francisco Figueiredo came free with the goalkeeper in the 37th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Julio Vera could save by the left post. In the 38th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mauro Cunha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mauro Cunha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 40 minutes Sabadim Harammes PRD's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. Agustín Saelices kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. Ionel Bălăiță charged in rather forcefully in the 44th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ionel Bălăiță the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 44th minute, Ionel Bălăiță hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Eder Lopes was the one to do the kick off. Abel Castelo Branco hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. In the 76th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sabadim Harammes PRD's goalkeeper Mauro Cunha, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Sabadim Harammes PRD's Mauro Cunha proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 78th minute of the match, managed to save Sabadim Harammes PRD from getting a goal against them. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Eder Lopes in the 81st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Sabadim Harammes PRD booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antonio Arias didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Sabadim Harammes PRD throughout the match.
