After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Lucian Mărculescu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Lucian Mărculescu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Rafael Flamme showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Torbjörn Asmundsson's late challenge caught a Venezuela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Torbjörn Asmundsson helped the player get up and apologised. Torbjörn Asmundsson kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tomas Illescas in the 58th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rafael Flamme saved Italia.1.FCKaiserslautern from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Italia.1.FCKaiserslautern's Jean Moura got a free kick in the 61st minute. Torbjörn Asmundsson was shown his second yellow card after 61 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Rafael Flamme came out of the goal and Joshua Secada tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 72nd minute, Patricio Costa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lucian Mărculescu in the 73rd minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 77 minutes in the game Seyfi Çırakoğlu did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Shao Xi. Lucian Mărculescu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jonathan Ferrant read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 87th minute of play. In the 88th minute, Jonathan Venegas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ellis Pears didn't quite understand what happened when in the 90 minute of the game managed to get a great opportunity for a goal and then missed the goal by a feet. Rafael Flamme made a fantastic save in the 94th minute, when Tomas Illescas sent off a good shot on target.
