When the match clock showed 17 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Concetto Trasatti sped through Peru's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Rolando Noboa. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Concetto Trasatti was the one to do the kick off. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Cordarrel in the 55th minute of play. 60 minutes into the match, Estudiantes de América's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Murillo came free, but Marcos Ranolfo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Cornelio Ruisko had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 93 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Kraig Fred came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Flavio Iraunkor took the ball and in the 95 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rolando Noboa. Rolando Noboa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0.
