Mexico's Dante Lacasa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 9th minute of the match, managed to save Mexico from getting a goal against them. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hugo Cunha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lautaro Mancebo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cléber Souza read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 13th minute of play. If Arí Paiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Mexico's zone, Hugo Cunha stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dante Lacasa came out of the goal and Hugo Cunha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Joel Gaona fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cléber Souza having to interfere. Cléber Souza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luca Zorita in the 22nd minute of play. Dante Lacasa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Hugo Barreto went, in the 24th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cacá Ramos in the 32nd minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 36th minute Alberto Tafalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cléber Souza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Joel Gaona came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Mexico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joel Gaona couldn't finish the play. In the 41st match minute, Maxaranguape - FSCMZ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mário de Amaral to maneuver through the defense. Hugo Cunha's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 44thth minute, Dante Lacasa skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 48th minute, Cacá Ramos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Joel Gaona was the one to do the kick off. With a little luck, Maxaranguape - FSCMZ's Cléber Souza got control of the ball when Alberto Tafalla tried to sneak it across the goal line. Cléber Souza made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lautaro Mancebo in the 57th minute. Maxaranguape - FSCMZ made a substitution. Magno Leite replaced Arnt Aronsen. If Hugo Barreto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mexico were awarded a corner in the 73th minute after Maxaranguape - FSCMZ's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Joel Gaona took the corner. The corner led Mexico's Joel Gaona to fire away a dangerous shot which Cléber Souza despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hugo Cunha in the 77th minute of the match. In the 78th minute of the match, Lautaro Mancebo got a very nice opportunity to score, but Cléber Souza was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 80 minutes into the match, Maxaranguape - FSCMZ's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Tafalla came free, but Cléber Souza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mexico's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Joel Gaona in the 81st minute. A nice corner shot did that Macos Graciani got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Cléber Souza quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Cléber Souza made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lautaro Mancebo in the 82nd minute. Lorenzo Cazalla kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. 89 minutes into the match, Maxaranguape - FSCMZ's goalkeeper Cléber Souza had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lautaro Mancebo. The Maxaranguape - FSCMZ players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
