The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicolas Olejmeulen having to interfere. Nicolas Olejmeulen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. 31 minutes into the game, Cristian Sancho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Nicolas Olejmeulen was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 38 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nicolas Olejmeulen. Sputchi FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Daniel Zorita was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Cristian Sancho struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Nicolas Olejmeulen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Karl-Magnus Tidén in the 46th minute. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. An unexpected shot in the 56th minute by Cristian Sancho got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicolas Olejmeulen having to interfere. Nicolas Olejmeulen made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. In the 66th minute of the match, Daniel Zorita got a very nice opportunity to score, but Nicolas Olejmeulen was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 73rd match minute, Sputchi FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ulf Hamnberg to maneuver through the defense. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 80th minute, Karl-Magnus Tidén hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Villiam Forsberg charged in rather forcefully in the 84th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Villiam Forsberg the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 84th minute, one of Sputchi FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Sputchi FC. Sputchi FC:s Nicolas Olejmeulen showed great skill when he stopped Daniel Zorita:s penalty. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Nicolas Olejmeulen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nicolas Olejmeulen stood somewhat misplaced when Felix Montenegro came free in front of goal and shot 0-3 to the left of him in the 93 minute. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Sputchi FC throughout the match.
