In the 14th minute Luis Andino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Péter Simkó saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 18th minute after 1866 Lokomotiv Kanizsa's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. Péter Simkó showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Felix Montenegro in the 20th minute of the match. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Antonio Arias hit a great ball. Csaba Kiss kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. After 29 played minutes, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Péter Simkó came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Ecuador reached it. Thanks to some nice moves Bálint Szarka could shoot a difficult shot in the 31st minute, which Julio Vera however easily saved by the left post. Cristian Sancho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Péter Simkó having to make a save. In the 34th minute, Cristian Sancho made a precise shot to the right of Péter Simkó. 1866 Lokomotiv Kanizsa's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Thanos Kolompár who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 39thth minute tested the skills of Julio Vera when he managed to save the team from getting behind. When the match clock showed 39 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Thanos Kolompár sped through Ecuador's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Julio Vera. 41 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Thanos Kolompár came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Daniel Zorita took the ball and in the 47 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Péter Simkó. Péter Simkó dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Agustín Saelices could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but Péter Simkó made a huge save. Luis Andino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Péter Simkó tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Thanos Kolompár stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Thanos Kolompár tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Thanos Kolompár in the 59th minute of play. 63 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Dávid Pócsi came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match had gone on for 65 minutes, Cristian Sancho took a quick shot and it went in 1-3 without a chance for Péter Simkó to make any attempt to save it. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Camilo Gisbert got a free kick in the 73rd minute. 1866 Lokomotiv Kanizsa's Ádám Vass was substituted for Muhammet Dirican. Camilo Gisbert hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, Csaba Kiss managed to get in a good position for a shot. 1866 Lokomotiv Kanizsa's supporters rose to their feet, but Csaba Kiss was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After some fancy dribbling in the 82nd minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Péter Simkó breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Bálint Szarka took the ball and in the 89 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Julio Vera. Julio Vera dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-3. When Felix Montenegro came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Felix Montenegro couldn't finish the play. When 1866 Lokomotiv Kanizsa's Róbert Vásárhelyi in the 97th minute got a chance for a shot 97th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ecuador's goalie prevented a goal. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than 1866 Lokomotiv Kanizsa throughout the match.
