In the 4th minute, Gottlieb Hammer fired away a hard free kick towards the goal. Julio Vera moved to his left, but didn't have to make a save as the ball went out of bounds. Gottlieb Hammer blasted a shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gottlieb Hammer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Fabio Bischoff during the 12th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Fabio Bischoff hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. After having played for 15 minutes, Gottlieb Hammer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Balus Treter's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gottlieb Hammer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Agustín Saelices in the 19th minute of play forced Balus Treter's goalkeeper Karsten Zielinski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Gottlieb Hammer came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Balus Treter fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gottlieb Hammer couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gottlieb Hammer in the 29th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Karsten Zielinski showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 35th minute of the match. In the 41st minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Karsten Zielinski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Balus Treter's Karsten Zielinski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 46th minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. The audience was convinced that Gottlieb Hammer's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 56th minute of the game. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Balus Treter was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Milenko Ermentraut didn't get a good kick on the ball. Daniel Zorita in the 66thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. If Gottlieb Hammer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 84th minute of the match, Daniel Zorita got a very nice opportunity to score, but Karsten Zielinski was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 87th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Balus Treter's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Daniel Zorita almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Balus Treter's Karsten Zielinski did a great save. Ecuador were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Balus Treter to leave the ground with a draw.
