When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Lucílio Figueiras made a kick off. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 51st minute of the match, but Renato Vargas made a huge save. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Fredy Montero stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Fredy Montero tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sporting Clube de Gaya's Renato Vargas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Agustín Saelices in the 80th minute of play. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 81st minute of the match, but Renato Vargas made a huge save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with Renato Vargas in the 84th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Renato Vargas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sporting Clube de Gaya's Renato Vargas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luis Andino in the 90th minute of play. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Renato Vargas having to interfere.
