When Guillermo Mariano fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Venezuela's protests and gave Guillermo Mariano a yellow card for diving instead. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Erling Bennet stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Erling Bennet tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 3-0 became the score in the 45th minute when Erling Bennet elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Erling Bennet stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, Erling Bennet kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. If Erling Bennet had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Erling Bennet in the 58th minute of play. In the 59th minute, Erling Bennet got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Venezuela's Jose Correa managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Rene Luzea in the 62 minute of the game. Ayberk Türkoğlu hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Erling Bennet in the 69th minute of play. Venezuela's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 7-0. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bumin Kağan couldn't finish the play. When the match had gone on for 95 minutes, Erling Bennet put it in 8-0 from a short distance just to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Soulfly F.C.'s supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
