Abelardo Macías showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. When Tomas Illescas fell near the penalty area in the 30th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Venezuela's protests and gave Tomas Illescas a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Yasin Saleh made a great header on Plaza Babys CF's corner, it was just that Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant managed to reach the ball for a save.
