After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Henrik Biörnberg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Henrik Biörnberg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Henrik Biörnberg in the 12th minute of play. When Patricio Costa came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Venezuela fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Patricio Costa couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant got control of the ball when Mikael Apelquist tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Guillermo Mariano got a free kick in the 28th minute. In the 30th minute, Fresta BK Väsby's Henrik Biörnberg ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. Tomas Illescas struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. Axel Östlund didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Venezuela. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jeronimo Perfecto, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Tomas Illescas might have been able to make a better finish in the 41st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Axel Östlund. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tomas Illescas ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mikael Apelquist got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.

Through an outstanding action, after 78 minutes, Axel Östlund successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 82 minutes into the match, Patrik Öberg notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
