In the 37th minute, Venezuela's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Buğrahan Vecih fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fabiano Palmucci, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. Venezuela's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
