In the 37th minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 王义克 showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Agustín Saelices in the 45th minute of the match. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 88thth minute of the game 庞明银 who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 92nd minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
