Song Wei Yun started the match with the kick off. Thiago Pliego showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Song Wei Yun, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. After a rather tough play, Chile's Orlando Casaus got a free kick in the 6th minute. In the 9th minute, Alan Tamayo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience was convinced that Song Wei Yun's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Thiago Pliego was relentless in the 15th minute of the game. Rahim Kornes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Orlando Casaus, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

In the 52nd minute, Song Wei Yun ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Thiago Pliego was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. In the 58th minute Samuel Griffin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thiago Pliego saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Chile defense, Song Wei Yun kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Thiago Pliego. The Chile fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Thiago Pliego should have stopped the shot. In the 65th minute, Mariano Lacasa left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Chile fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. In the 68th minute the ball was on its way in behind Seraċini Għawdxin's goalkeeper Rahim Kornes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Fernando Negro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thiago Pliego having to interfere. Rahim Kornes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mariano Lacasa in the 77th minute of play. Thiago Pliego made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Song Wei Yun in the 79th minute of play. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Thiago Pliego prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Chile's Thiago Pliego played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Samuel Griffin in the 95th minute of play.
