Peru's Luz Tejedor was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Nikolai Vejtsbøl in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 19th minute Gabriel Batistuta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Noboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nikolai Vejtsbøl made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 21st minute of play. Nikolai Vejtsbøl showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Murillo in the 24th minute of the match. Nicolai Rasmer could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 26th minute of the match, but Rolando Noboa made a huge save. The audience was convinced that Julian Murillo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nikolai Vejtsbøl was relentless in the 27th minute of the game. The referee ignored Dværgetved's protests and gave Emil Klitmark a yellow card for diving instead. Peru's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
