An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 29th minute of play forced SE Palestra Itália's goalkeeper Tony Chaves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 31 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tony Chaves. SE Palestra Itália's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Daniel Zorita was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Clayton Sergis short, quick shot in the 41stth minute got Julio Vera to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 47th match minute, SE Palestra Itália was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bruno Campon to maneuver through the defense. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Clayton Sergi in the 54th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tony Chaves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luis Andino in the 59th minute of play. In the 60th minute, Edson Fernandes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 61 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Cristian Sancho. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Clayton Sergi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 71 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Betão Vargas came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Daniel Zorita succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-3 in the 74th playminute. SE Palestra Itália's Cristóvão Madureira was substituted for Acar Buğrahan. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Clayton Sergi in the 84th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Felix Montenegro got free with Tony Chaves in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 96th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 98 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Adalberto Custódio was slow to take the kick. During this time SE Palestra Itália's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Adalberto Custódio almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Ecuador's Julio Vera did a great save. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
