In the 72nd minute, Gualter Penha ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rolando Noboa was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-4. Percy Fernandez came out of the goal in the 77th minute to try and stop a shot by Peru's Julian Murillo. But to his dismay, Julian Murillo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-5. Peru's Alonso Berganza managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Remo Carvalho in the 80 minute of the game. Sport Clube Recife's Percy Fernandez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 85th minute of play. Milagros Fraga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Percy Fernandez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Peru's Antonio Tenorio was substituted for Luz Tejedor. Percy Fernandez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Milagros Fraga in the 96th minute. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Peru had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
