Gil Coelho was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Percy Prestes fell near the penalty area in the 9th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Barcellos Mineiro FC's protests and gave Percy Prestes a yellow card for diving instead. In the 9th minute, Percy Prestes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 11 minutes of play, Chile's Orlando Casaus made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gil Coelho was left in no man's land by his defense there! 14 minutes into the game, Chile's Mariano Lacasa nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gil Coelho made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. 18 minutes into the match, Mariano Lacasa had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gil Coelho. Barcellos Mineiro FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mariano Lacasa was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. After 22 played minutes Barcellos Mineiro FC got a freekick which was hit by Orelio Picka. When Cássio Montenegro fell near the penalty area in the 24th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Barcellos Mineiro FC's protests and gave Cássio Montenegro a yellow card for diving instead. Cássio Montenegro hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Gil Coelho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Orlando Casaus, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 27th minute of play forced Barcellos Mineiro FC's goalkeeper Gil Coelho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mariano Lacasa might have been able to make a better finish in the 31st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gil Coelho. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mariano Lacasa ran back to his position shaking his head. Thiago Pliego took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Orelio Picka, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 38thth minute of the game Mariano Lacasa who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Barcellos Mineiro FC's Gil Coelho was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The Chile fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-5. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mariano Lacasa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Jailson Batista's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Thiago Pliego read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 50th minute of play. Mariano Lacasa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but Gil Coelho made a huge save. 55 minutes into the match, Chile's Mariano Lacasa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gil Coelho narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 59 minutes, Mariano Lacasa took a quick shot and it went in 0-6 without a chance for Gil Coelho to make any attempt to save it. If Guillermo Fontirroig had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Barcellos Mineiro FC made a substitution. Jaime de Mendonça replaced Orelio Picka. In the 65th minute, Mariano Lacasa ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gil Coelho was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-7. Mariano Lacasa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gil Coelho read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 70th minute of play. In the 72nd minute Mariano Lacasa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gil Coelho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 83 minutes into the match, Chile's Mariano Lacasa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gil Coelho narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With a little luck, Barcellos Mineiro FC's Gil Coelho got control of the ball when Mariano Lacasa tried to sneak it across the goal line. Mariano Lacasa scored 0-9 in the 93rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gil Coelho, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
