Julio Iglesias might have been able to make a better finish in the 22nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jonathan Ferrant. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Julio Iglesias ran back to his position shaking his head. Victor Piţurcă's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jonathan Ferrant read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. Bogdan Lobonț showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. In the 30th minute, Emerald's Victor Piţurcă dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Victor Piţurcă made a kick off. Hurşit Cemşit hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. 59 minutes into the game, Emerald's Victor Piţurcă nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jonathan Ferrant made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. 64 minutes had been played when some careless play by Emerald's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Tomas Illescas was slow to take the kick. During this time Venezuela's players had a chance to rest. Tomas Illescas made a great header on Venezuela's corner, it was just that Emerald's Bogdan Lobonț managed to reach the ball for a save. Emerald's defense didn't have a chance, in the 68th minute, when Tomas Illescas scored to the left of an out of position Bogdan Lobonț, making the score, 2-1. 78 minutes into the match, Victor Piţurcă had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. In the 91st minute, Victor Piţurcă left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Emerald fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-1. 96 minutes into the match, Emerald's goalkeeper Bogdan Lobonț had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tomas Illescas.
