In the 19th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dibag Martinez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 20 minutes into the game, Cristian Sancho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Dibag Martinez was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lautaro Martinez in the 24th minute. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Lautaro Martinez sent off a good shot on target. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lautaro Martinez couldn't finish the play. The supporters of La Scaloneta booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antonio Arias didn't get a good kick on the ball. The La Scaloneta players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ecuador were winning 0-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. La Scaloneta's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Dibag Martinez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Agustín Saelices in the 67th minute. In the 70th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. Leandro Paredes kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. With an all-out effort, Ecuador's Dibag Martinez threw himself towards the right post 75 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Luis Andino, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Dibag Martinez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 78th minute of the match. In the 80th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dibag Martinez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, La Scaloneta's Cristian Romero got a free kick in the 83rd minute. In the 91st minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Dibag Martinez in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Agustín Saelices got a free kick in the 95th minute. Julio Vera came out of the goal in the 96th minute to try and stop a shot by La Scaloneta's Julián Álvarez. But to his dismay, Julián Álvarez quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than La Scaloneta.
