Hamilton Espírito Santo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Thiago Pliego having to make a save. The crowd rose to their feet as Maximo Mikolas kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Thiago Pliego. That made the score 1-0 in the 20 minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maximo Mikolas in the 23rd minute of play forced Chile's goalkeeper Thiago Pliego to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Through an outstanding action, after 27 minutes, Thiago Pliego successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post.
