Dacian Ghițescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 5 minutes into the game, Felix Mihăilescu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. After 5 played minutes PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca got a freekick which was hit by Felix Mihăilescu. In the 6th minute, Primitivo Andino hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tiberiu Rotariu kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. Dacian Ghițescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 10th minute of the match. Dacian Ghițescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. After a rather tough play, PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's Tiberiu Rotariu got a free kick in the 21st minute. Daniel Zorita might have been able to make a better finish in the 22nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dacian Ghițescu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Daniel Zorita ran back to his position shaking his head. After a rather tough play, PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's Cristinel Uncheşelu got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Dacian Ghițescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 25th minute of play. Tiberiu Rotariu kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. In the 29th minute, Costel Gurgui hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 33rd minute of play forced PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's goalkeeper Dacian Ghițescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Sorin Nicorici in the 36th minute. The corner ended in Sorin Nicorici almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Ecuador's Julio Vera did a great save. Sorin Nicorici succeeded in the game's 36th minute to get real power on a long shot . Ecuador's Julio Vera hadn't the time to block the shot which was pasted into the goal, 1-1! After having played for 40 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dacian Ghițescu having to interfere. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 43rd minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. In the 47th minute, Virgil Jupân hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Felix Mihăilescu made a kick off. Costel Gurgui hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca made a substitution. Aristide Fetea replaced Felix Mihăilescu. Costel Gurgui hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 57th minute of play forced PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's goalkeeper Dacian Ghițescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aristide Fetea in the 61st minute of play. In a very dangerous position, a player in PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 65th minute. Penalty! Dacian Ghițescu had in the 66thth minute some difficulties stopping Daniel Zorita's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Aristide Fetea's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 67th minute of play. During the 69th minute of the match Tiberiu Rotariu completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Tiberiu Rotariu a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After 70 played minutes PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca got a freekick which was hit by Tiberiu Rotariu. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dacian Ghițescu having to interfere. An unexpected shot in the 73rd minute by Daniel Zorita got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The audience was convinced that Virgil Jupân's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 77th minute of the game. Felix Montenegro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dacian Ghițescu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 79th minute of play. In the 80th minute Golo Phoenix shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's Aristide Fetea got a free kick in the 82nd minute. PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's Dacian Ghițescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 85th minute of play. 90 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's Dacian Ghițescu. Dacian Ghițescu was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When Golo Phoenix fell near the penalty area in the 95th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's protests and gave Golo Phoenix a yellow card for diving instead. In the 96th minute, Golo Phoenix hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 96 played minutes PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca got a freekick which was hit by Aristide Fetea. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca.
