But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Armando Dorigatti couldn't finish the play. In the 17th minute the ball was on its way in behind MKS Mazur Ełk's goalkeeper Cezary Sitko, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Juliusz Jerzyk ran over to the corner to take the kick. Many of Ecuador's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Ecuador may have spent more time on the ball, but MKS Mazur Ełk were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
