In the 38th minute of the match, Kevin Newman tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Julio Vera saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After having played for 39 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 42nd minute Kevin Newman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Heiko Som tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Antonio Arias lost his temper 46 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 48th minute of the game, De Ontembare Leeuwen got a penalty. The shot went straight in by the left post.

The wind increased when Kevin Newman made the kick off in the second half. Heiko Som was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Cristian Sancho showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-1 in the 53 minute of play. 57 minutes into the game, Carlos Gustavo Anatibia cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Jacco Hoving came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the De Ontembare Leeuwen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jacco Hoving couldn't finish the play. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kevin Newman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Gustavo Anatibia in the 70th minute of the match. After 73 played minutes De Ontembare Leeuwen got a freekick which was hit by Ernest Kleinman. Heiko Som showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luis Andino, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kevin Newman in the 75th minute of play. 81 minutes into the match, Ernest Kleinman notched a goal, 4-1, to the right of Ecuador's Julio Vera. Julio Vera was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Daniel Zorita was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 90th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 91st minute Kevin Newman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 95 minutes into the match, Carlos Gustavo Anatibia notched a goal, 5-1, to the right of Ecuador's Julio Vera. Julio Vera was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
