The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hilario Sauveur to make the kick off. A collision led to Porto Sul Football getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Caetano Novaes hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Samuel Netto in the 54th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by César de Moraes in the 77th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If César de Moraes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tomas Illescas who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 83rdth minute tested the skills of Francesco Toldo when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Ademir Loyola sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Samuel Netto in the 95th minute of play. Venezuela's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
