Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 10th minute of the match, managed to save Venezuela from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jerónimo Furtado got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dabi Saens, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. União Sport Clube Paredes's Jerónimo Furtado got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Edwin van der Sar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Patricio Costa during the 22nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 22 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Patricio Costa. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jerónimo Furtado in the 24th minute of the match. Venezuela's Tomas Illescas got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dabi Saens's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. With a little luck, Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant got control of the ball when Jerónimo Furtado tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jerónimo Furtado did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 2-0 to the left of a surprised Jonathan Ferrant 41 minutes into the match. Edwin van der Sar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jerónimo Furtado stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Dabi Saens came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alexandre Santana in the 53rd minute of play. 57 minutes into the match, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Edwin van der Sar narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Leopoldo Barbosa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Leopoldo Gaxan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Leopoldo Gaxan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 65th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rigoberto Mina to maneuver through the defense. In the 67th minute of the match Dabi Saens shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jonathan Ferrant showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. When Lourenço Gomes fell near the penalty area in the 78th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored União Sport Clube Paredes's protests and gave Lourenço Gomes a yellow card for diving instead. Lourenço Gomes hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. 83 minutes into the game, Altino Palha threw the ball into play from the sideline. Venezuela's Jonathan Venegas quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jerónimo Furtado, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal in the 90th minute to try and stop a shot by União Sport Clube Paredes's Jerónimo Furtado. But to his dismay, Jerónimo Furtado quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-0. After 92 played minutes União Sport Clube Paredes got a freekick which was hit by Jerónimo Furtado. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jerónimo Furtado, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the referee ended the match the União Sport Clube Paredes players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
