Patricio Costa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Stein Spoelberch read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 18th minute of play. Venezuela's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Tomas Illescas in the 19th minute. The corner led Venezuela's Tomas Illescas to fire away a dangerous shot which Stein Spoelberch despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal in the 20th minute to try and stop a shot by Club Brugge's King Eken. But to his dismay, King Eken quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from 孔磊傲, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When 孔磊傲 came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Club Brugge fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that 孔磊傲 couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Diederik Temmerman managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Brugge's supporters rose to their feet, but Diederik Temmerman was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jonathan Ferrant breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 45 minutes into the game, Club Brugge's King Eken nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jonathan Ferrant made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-0.

A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Jonathan Venegas hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Club Brugge's Gunter Mesmaekers got a free kick in the 54th minute. With a little luck, Club Brugge's Stein Spoelberch got control of the ball when Tomas Illescas tried to sneak it across the goal line. Venezuela were awarded a corner in the 58th minute after Club Brugge's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Tomas Illescas took the corner. Club Brugge's Stein Spoelberch proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 61st minute of the match, managed to save Club Brugge from getting a goal against them. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from King Eken, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. After a rather tough play, Club Brugge's 孔磊傲 got a free kick in the 68th minute. 73 minutes into the game, Pieter Van Landewijck cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-1. Jonathan Ferrant was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 77th minute King Eken shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With an all-out effort, Venezuela's Stein Spoelberch threw himself towards the right post 78 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Patricio Costa, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 78th minute, Patricio Costa made a precise shot to the right of Stein Spoelberch. Club Brugge's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 5-2.
