A sloppy throw-in by Zeruko Torrente in the 92nd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo. Facundo Cadaval might have been able to make a better finish in the 95th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Germán Figueres. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Facundo Cadaval ran back to his position shaking his head. Mexico were awarded a corner in the 100th minute after S.D NARCEA's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Joel Gaona took the corner. A well-hit corner resulted in Luca Zorita heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Many of Mexico's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Mexico may have spent more time on the ball, but S.D NARCEA were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
